Same position (Hall 10 Piedmont Booth Q3) but a totally renewed booth, where protagonists are reuse materials in line with a “green” company philosophy and a particular attention to sustainability.
And more: a “new” wine among Barberas, Barbera Vita, produced with a unique technique which combines the ancient tradition of the sparkling Barbera with a secondary fermentation in bottle and the elegance of a classic method (with final disgorgement).
BARBERA VIVA IN PREVIEW – The new Bava wine launched in Verona is Barbera Viva – it appears with vintage 2017 and a label that reminds of the the themes of family history: the ancestral method practiced by grandad Pierot – founder of the cellar in 1911- who loved Barbera Frizzante.
This wine fermented in bottle without added sugars, dégorgé and not filtered has been historically produced for a private use of the family alone but now it opens to the tasting of lovers and nostalgic drinkers in a limited edition.
“This is my Barbera” says Piero Bava, 87 years old and company president. The first 100 of these bottles will have a further and special characteristic: a particular “live” card containing seeds to be planted. As well as the wine, also its label is ready to blossom.
THE NEW BOOTH AND THE FAMILY WINES – At Vinitaly 2019 Bava offers an image and wines which consistently tell the deepest identity of this centenary company with a contemporaneous attitude.
Bava space will be colored with beautiful birdhouses which in vineyard, located on the posts among the rows, guest various species which help controlling the noxious insects of the vine.
Natural materials reused and renewed, the old birdhouses decorate the wall where the history of the three Piedmonts family cellars and their wines is told.
And there you can find Cascina della Pieve of Cocconato (Asti), with the signature wine of the family, Barbera d’Asti Superiore Stradivario that can be tasted in 2010 vintage. Other than Barbera, in Cocconato we cultivate this autochthonous piedmonts wine which is more and more renown, Albarossa Ronsingana (vintage 2015). And two white wines of international vines are born: Sauvignon Relais Bianc (2015) and Chardonnay Thou Bianc (2018).
From the cellar in Pianoalto of Agliano (in Asti province) we have Libera (2017), the youngest Barbera of Bava and Pianoalto (2014), the Nizza of Bava. The family property in Castiglione Falletto (Cuneo) is the cradle of Barolo Cru Scarrone (2010) and Langhe Nebbiolo Bava (2017).
Other wines of Bava that can be tasted at Vinitaly will be Moscato d’Asti, Malvasia di Castelnuovo Don Bosco Rosetta and Malvasia di Castelnuovo Don Bosco Rosé.
