Some events are created to celebrate. Others to amaze. And then there are those that want to tell a story.
That’s the spirit behind Cocco… Wine Stories – Messages in a Bottle, the brand-new event coming to Cocconato on Thursday, May 1st, 2025. It will be a day dedicated to wine, stories, challenges, people, and the ideas that keep this world so alive.
At the heart of the day are five key themes, five “messages in a bottle”:
- Young Winemakers, with a focus on under 40s producers and the growing role of women in wine
- Resistant grape varieties, PIWI, and sustainable viticulture in today’s Piemonte
- No Oak, a curated selection of wines made and aged without wood
- Orange Wine, the growing trend winning over producers around the world
- Nebbiolo among the highest hills of Monferrato, a deep dive into the vineyards between Cocconato and Albugnano
Of course, Bava will be there. Francesca, the sixth generation of the Bava family, will represent us. She’ll be joined by four fellow Sbarbatelle, young women of wine from Piemonte, who will lead one of the day’s “messages in a bottle,” focusing on young winemakers and female entrepreneurship in wine.
Who Are the Sbarbatelle?
Sbarbatelle is a network of Italian women under 40s who produce wine across the country, united by a shared desire to carry forward the legacy of their land with a fresh, innovative approach.
Born in Monferrato in 2017 as an event, Sbarbatelle has grown into a national movement with more than 200 members. Today, it’s a non-profit association that promotes gender equity and supports women in wine, creating a space for connection, personal growth, and shared inspiration. Francesca Bava is the association’s Vice President.
