Cascina Scarrone: The home of Barolo Scarrone
Our Barolo Scarrone is a wine born in the heart of the Scarrone cru in Castiglione Falletto. In the 1980s, we renovated a beautiful, colorful farmhouse here, dedicating its cellars to the production and aging of our Barolo. The fermentation takes place in large 53-hectoliter wooden vats.
The grapes for Barolo Scarrone come exclusively from the five hectares of vineyards surrounding the farmhouse, located at approximately 300 meters above sea level.
The hillside’s favorable exposure ensures excellent sun coverage in the morning, allowing the grapes to achieve perfect ripeness even in the sunniest vintages. The white soil, rich in marl and interspersed with sand—characteristic of the best Langhe crus—produces elegant, well-balanced, and long-lived wines.
The result is a broad, complex wine of great elegance, distinguished by its deep garnet color and aromas of tobacco, rose, and violet. Over time, these characteristics evolve further. On the palate, you’ll find full-bodied richness with structured yet silky tannins, hallmark traits of Castiglione and, specifically, the Scarrone cru.
