Cascina Scarrone, the production heart of Barolo Scarrone

Cascina Scarrone is the home of our Barolo Scarrone, one of Bava’s iconic wines, born in the prestigious Scarrone cru in Castiglione Falletto. It was here, in the 1980s, that the Bava family chose to restore a historic farmhouse, transforming it into the cradle of this Barolo.

Inside the estate are cellars dedicated exclusively to the vinification and ageing of Barolo Scarrone, featuring large 53-hectolitre wooden vats where fermentation takes place, in full respect of tradition and the identity of the cru.

The five hectares of vineyards surrounding Cascina Scarrone lie at around 300 metres above sea level, in a location that ensures ideal pedoclimatic conditions. The east-facing exposure allows the vines to benefit from the morning sun, promoting balanced grape ripening even in the warmest vintages.

The light-coloured soil is rich in calcareous marls with sandy interlayers, a composition typical of the finest Langhe crus, capable of giving the wines finesse, balance and a natural aptitude for ageing.

This unique setting gives rise to a broad and complex Barolo, elegant from its bright garnet colour. On the nose, notes of tobacco, rose and violet emerge, gaining further complexity over time. On the palate, the wine is full and harmonious, with firm yet silky tannins, a distinctive hallmark of the great Barolos of Castiglione Falletto and, in particular, of the Scarrone cru.
